*Update 4/30/2020* Jackson Avenue Reconstruction

April 2, 2020

4/30/2020: We will be moving the tentative start date for construction to June 15.  This will help the district out regarding their existing workload and hopefully push construction into less risky weather.

The City of Dover will be rebuilding Jackson Avenue between 2nd and 4th Street this spring (tentatively in May weather permitting).  This project will help improve driving conditions on Jackson during the winter. In an effort to maximize the use of public funds, the project will be a team effort between the City of Dover, the Independent Highway District and Woods Crushing and Hauling.  Jackson will be closed to thru traffic during the project; however, a temporary single unpaved lane will remain in place to access the Post Office during the project.  There may be a required full short-duration road closure during the project for work directly in front of the Post Office, but only when required.  We ask that the public be safe, drive slow and be patient with the work crews as they complete the project.
