Lakeshore Avenue Improvements – Updated 6/11/2021

May 19, 2021

6/11/2021

Due to weather and a minor construction setback, paving has been pushed back a bit further.  We anticipate paving to begin near Thursday, 6/17.

On the day that paving occurs, Lakeshore Avenue must be closed for 2-4 hours during paving due to the narrow road. Residents will have access their homes by foot during paving, rolling and pavement cooling. If you require any special accommodations, please notify the Dover City Clerk at (208)265-8339 so arrangements can be made.

Once we have more details as to dates/times of road closure we ‘ll be sure to keep you all informed.

The City of Dover has contracted with Woods Crushing and Hauling to improve portions of Lakeshore Avenue as shown in the image below. The Independent Highway District will also be completing portions of the project.

Phase 1 of the two-phase project entails site preparations and removal of the existing pavement and portions of some driveways that are in the right-of-way. Lakeshore Avenue will remain open to residents during this time, although there might be brief delays. After the first phase has been completed, a gravel driving surface will be left until the road can be paved.

Phase 2 includes paving and final clean up.

The gravel parking area east of the post office on Jackson Avenue may be used by Lakeshore residents during the road closure. Please be aware that there may be disruptions to delivery services during this time, at the delivery company’s discretion. Additional questions about the project may be directed to the City Clerk at (208) 265-8339.

In order to minimize project costs, the construction schedule remains somewhat flexible, but the approximate schedule is given below. A second notification will be sent to affected residents when construction dates are confirmed.
