What is the Sewer User Agreement?

July 24, 2018

Residents of Dover have recently received a Sewer User Agreement request, but what exactly is the purpose of this?

Every resident of Dover has a septic tank on their property that connects to the city sewer system. This septic tank is the property owner’s responsibility, not the City of Dover’s. In 2016, as a measure of good faith, the city paid for the inspection of everyone’s septic tanks, pumping as needed and giving them a clean slate.

The Sewer User Agreement is a document confirming that you understand the septic system, from the sewer main to your home, is your responsibility, not the City’s. Please review the full document before signing, and return your signed agreement by August 15th.
